KISS.
KISS. Yes, its a great word, a pretty good 80's rock band and also a way of life.
K.I.S.S. Keep it Super Simple
This simple idea can be applied to just about everything in life, and if done correctly, can make life less stressful and much easier.
In today's culture, we tend to complicate so many things, with technology we think its making things easier and simple, but in reality, its not the case.
Have you ever had one of those long drawn out text conversations? Think about this for a minute, maybe go back into your phone and read through one of those long text conversations. Now, imagine how much quicker that conversation would have been if you would have just called them and used your voice?
Look at the gym and the plethora of contraptions that are there. In reality, all a person needs is their body weight and a good pair of work-out shoes to truly build muscle and endurance. Granted, in MN in January, a treadmill is a nice alternative to freezing outside.
What about cars, cars are literally so complicated now, that I had to remove the tire on my wifes truck to just replace the headlight!!!
Sorry, back to KISS and why I started this post today. If we can keep things super simple, life gets easier and less stressful. How about if we want to lose weight? We can make it so complicated, its way easier to just not bother. If we simplify it down to say, lose 25 lbs in 90 days. We can reduce that down to 1.5lbs per week. Thats about 1/4lbs per day. Now, that is quite a reasonable goal, changing your daily diet just a little bit will produce the intended result. What about saving money for a vacation, instead of saying i need $3000 by thanksgiving. How about thats just saving $300 a month. Or even easier, save just $10 per day. Bam, you are in Hawaii for thanksgiving.
Now, stress wise, I try and help people realize that some things are just a waste of energy to worry about. The question to ask yourself is, "Can I do anything about this right now?" If the answer is yes, then just get busy doing what needs to be done. If the answer is no, then let it go. Truly, just let it go. Simply put, worrying doesn't do anything to help the problem, it just creates stress in the one doing the worrying. So, stop it.
Now I am sure I got way off course here, but if you can remember to Keep It Super Simple, you can start to reduce stress and make life way more easier and fun.
