Water Challenge!

hastings chiropractic

With all these internet challenges going on out there and with how dangerous and harmful they can be (I saw a challenge where you PURPOSELY burn your arm on the stove??), why not try something that is hard for many and healthy for all?

I see people everyday that say they drink enough water, but in reality they are severely lacking in hydration. So, I propose a challenge to everyone who reads this. I want you to actually track all the water you drink for a week. Then go back and spend the next week trying to meet the recommended intake of water listed below.

Hydration has other components, but lets keep this simple and just track for a week and drink for a week.

I have played with this in my office, most of my practice members THINK they drink enough, but find that they are truly lacking in their water intake.

Listen, water is needed, 55% to 60% of our bodies are made of water, water also is needed to help eliminate toxins in our bodies (more on that in another post), water is needed to lubricate joints, regulate temperatures, and many other bodily functions. We lose water through breathing, sweating and digestion all day long, it needs to be replaced constantly.

So, take this challenge seriously, just track how many ounces of water you drink (1 bottle = 16 Oz) for one week, then look at your numbers and spend the next week trying to drink the recommended amounts. Yes, you will probably struggle with it, peeing way more often among other things, but spend a week hitting that goal, your body will adjust and reward you for it. These recommendations are from MAYO

So, if you are an adult woman, you need 11.5 cups (1 cup = 8 ounces) so 92 ounces per day.

If you are an adult male, 15.5 cups (again 1 cup = 8 ounces) so 124 ounces per day.

Children are less, 5 cups to 8 cups based on age (google can give you recommended limits).

I am challenging everyone to share this post and take the challenge, you will find it on our Facebook page: (where you are welcome to comment and discuss. And look for another post coming soon about what is needed in your water for proper hydration to occur (no worries, you can buy it anywhere and its not expensive).
